Many different social problems occur in the United States and throughout the world, including poverty and substance abuse. These social problems often have an impact on family dynamics. In this assignment, you will be choosing one social problem (either poverty or substance abuse) and evaluate how that social problem has an impact on juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, child neglect, elder abuse, and domestic violence.
Assignment Directions
In a 2- to 3-page expository essay, address the following regarding your chosen social problem (poverty or substance abuse):
Please respond to the following:
* In at least 2 paragraphs, state the history of the social problem (poverty or substance abuse) and identify the main cause(s) of the social problem.
* In another paragraph, discuss why this problem continues to exist.
* Next, use 1 or more paragraphs to provide at least two negative effects of the social problem.
* Using at least 1 paragraph, evaluate how one social problem is associated with each of the following: juvenile delinquency, teen pregnancy, child neglect, elder abuse, and domestic violence.
* Using at least 2 paragraphs, describe in detail how your chosen social problem (poverty or substance abuse) is associated with and impacts the development of families. Be sure to address how it affects family functioning in at least three family subsystems (parental, sibling, parent/child, grandparent/child, parent/grandparent).
* Provide real-world examples.
