OUTLINE FOR RESEARCH PROPOSAL
• Research proposal should have a good discussion flow.
• All abbreviated terms should be written in complete form upon first appearance in the text followed by its short-form. For example, World Health Organization (WHO).
ABSTRACT: (200 words)
• Please provide a short summary of the whole research proposal.
1. INTRODUCTION (<2 page) 1.1 Background of study (>4 in-text citations required)
• A comprehensive coverage of the proposed topic of study with few current issues provided.
1.2 Research Problem/ Problem statements (>2 in-text citations required)
• The content should reflect on the major issues (current/previous researches) that can be encountered by current study.
*DO NOT mention the research objectives here.
2. RESEARCH QUESTIONS (4-5 research questions in bullets form)
• Formulate the problem inquiry in structured format. All research questions formulated shall be able to match with the research title.
3. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES (4-5 research objectives in bullets form)
*This part very important, need to be concise
• This is the summary of the key issues being addressed in the research in statement format. The total number of research objectives should match with the research questions formulated.
4. SCOPE OF STUDY (in-text citation is not mandatory) (<1 page) • The relative coverage of the undertaken research should be identified. It should also highlight on the relative field of the study and mention the region/area that current study focus. *DO NOT mention/repeat the research objectives and the importance of study here. 5. SIGNIFICANCE OF STUDY (<2 pages) • The relative contribution of the research to specific parties. Why is this research study important? This section should be able to tackle the problem statements mentioned above. * DO NOT repeat the research objectives here. 5.1 Theoretical contribution (1-2 in-text citations) • In what ways the undertaken research would augment the theory/model in the current academic literature. 5.2 Practical contribution (1-2 in-text citations) • Indicate the practical implications of the study and how it contributes to any given industry/organization. 6. LITERATURE REVIEW (5-8 in-text citations) (2-3 pages) • A brief outline of the past and recent studies being conducted with reference to the proposal. The content must refer to both the past and current body of knowledge. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the theoretical background attributable to the undertaken study. * Do not repeat the content of introduction section here. 7. RESEARCH GAPS (200 words) • What is the values of current proposed research compared to previous literatures? 8. METHODOLOGY(study design, study population, study variables, data collection, study area) (In-text citations required if the protocols used are following previous publications) • A brief presentation on research method and research design to be undertaken for the proposed study. Particular attention should be given to put it in a succinct manner. *Avoid to use “they” “we” “I” in this section, and remember to use present tense (will be) as this is proposal, except when author discuss on past protocol used with in-text citation provided. 9. DATA ANALYSIS (In-text citations required if the protocols used are following previous publications) • A brief overview of the type of analysis being undertaken for the research. The basic objective of this section is to gauge the suitability of the analytical process to be utilized with reference to the undertaken research. * NO NEED to include CONCLUSION, but can include EXPECTED OUTCOME 10. REFERENCES APA 7th edition, >15 bibliographies required, within recent 10 years.
