For the final report presentation, we will each complete a presentation based on our final recommendation reports. Assume that you are presenting to a board of directors/executive leadership in an attempt to persuade the team to make a specific change in the organization or industry for which your recommendations are based. Keep in mind the purpose of this presentation is to make that recommendation in a persuasive way.
You should address: the purpose and scope of the report, the findings from research and the interview or survey, and conclusions and recommendations. Also, the presentation must include a chart, table, or graph, whether in the presentation itself or as a supplemental handout. Be sure not to simply copy and paste portions of your report into slides. You will want to think about how you can design the presentation in a way that best shares the information with the audience and engages the audience with the information. Be sure to carefully review chapter 11 in the Newman text.
Additionally, be sure to follow all of the standard conventions for creating any presentation slides that are used. Follow the 6 by 6 (or 7 by 7) rule, and choose a design that is not distracting to the audience. The presentation should look and progress professionally. Think about these design elements if using other types of visual aids and how incorporation of video or audio clips can most effectively enhance, and not detract from, the presentation content. Also apply design professional design elements to any handouts that will accompany the presentation.
Generally, 7 to 10 minutes is sufficient to meet all of the criteria; however, there is no specific requirement. As a general rule, you should allow 1 minute per slide. If you find yourself on one slide for longer than 1 minute, you may have too much information presented at that time. In addition to the body slides, you should also include a title, introductory, table of contents, concluding slide, and a wrap up slide to check for audience questions and to thank the audience. (These slides take less than 1 minute to present.) You will end with a final references page slide.
You will submit the presentation as a video recording, voice-over PowerPoint, or live presentation.
