You should plan to utilize
resources (cited sources) to do research for this paper but that the paper is
80%+ your work. An overabundance of
cited work or submitting someone else’s work without crediting it will result
in the application of the academic dishonesty policy (zero on the paper and a
note to the college)
5 references should be
provided in an appropriate works cited page at the end of your paper. These sources should be scientific of nature
(published papers) and not anecdotal blogs, websites, etc.
You can use the
documentation style that you are most comfortable with (MLA, APA,etc). My focus is much more on did you research the
topic and document the research then the actual formatting.
The papers should be a minimum
of 2,500 words (10 pages) and a maximum of 3,750 words (15 pages). Papers submitted that are outside of this
range will be marked down.
The topics below are the
basis for your paper. It is expected
that you provide very detailed responses and that you go above and beyond the
questions asked to show your knowledge.
COVID19 is a global
pandemic that has significantly impacted the world this year. Interestingly this pandemic has many similarities
and differences to the 1918 flu. A major
difference in the recent event is the involvement of the media and the
political aspects to our response.
Review the literature and provide a data driven, scientific based
comparison of the two epidemics. What
would have been the ideal response from a public health perspective? How has the role of the media and politicians
helped or hurt this? This should be a
fact based paper based on scientific literature and not a summary of what is in
the media or political/personal beliefs.
